What should I give up for Lent 2010?
Not that I am a proper bible basher or anything but I did do lent last year. And I do think maybe you should give something up for that duration and consider the people who are not as fortunate as yourself.
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday (17th Feb this year) that’s the day after Shrove Tuesday (Pancake Day) and lasts until Holy Thursday (which is the day before Good Friday) which is actually April fools day (1st) this year.
This year I’m thinking about giving up something important this year, some of my options are:
- Cookies
- Crisps
- Carbonated Drinks
- Chocolate
- Ketchup
- Beer
- Brandy
Other non food related options include:
- Blogging
- The Tinternet (except work based items of course)
- Tv (Including films)
- Music (this one would be especially hard)
- Swearing
Other suggestions are welcome via the comments box…
Voting is of course welcomed.

Beer would be too easy (you’ve done that “for fun” too recently)
Of course, it would be so-o-o-o-o tempting to vote for blogging. But I resisted.

Swearing gets my vote. It’s just wrong and unnecessary. We could all do with giving it up for lent – and then just not starting again. Ever. And can anyone explain to me the virtue in giving up something that you like. What is the point? Will God be happier if we make ourselves miserable? Me thinks that maddness lies in this kind of logic. Be happy. Be kind, but be happy.
